At CIS, we encourage well-rounded development of our students, encompassing academics, co-curricular activities, and extra-curricular activities. While academics sharpen intellectual skills, taking part in activities outside of the classroom teaches invaluable life skills such as teamwork, leadership, respect, self-worth, and commitment.
We recognize the importance of the school as the community center and the important part that co-curricular and extra-curricular activities play in enhancing academic performance AND in developing well-rounded individuals. CIS sponsors both co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and cooperates fully with off campus activities agencies in order to provide those experiences for our students at all levels.
Activities include both individual pursuits and team building activities for students from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Students may choose from a wide variety of activities that can include (but are not limited to) : Football, Basketball, Volleyball, Swimming, TaeKwonDo Club, Mad Science, Art Club, Photography Club, Improv Club, French Club, Band and Choir, Newspaper and Yearbook Club, Experiential Field Trips, School-Wide Celebrations, Student Council, Dramatic Productions, Plus many, many more!
Announcements regarding clubs are generally made through the school’s Daily Announcements, TV Announcements, or made by the teachers themselves at school.

ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Optimum learning takes place only when students approach their work with intention and integrity. It is vital, therefore, that students are aware of situations that may arise whereby they are tempted to act dishonestly and of the consequences of these acts. In order to prevent situations where cheating or plagiarizing may take place, students will learn how to properly document sources (e.g. bibliography, endnotes, quotations) and will be taught effective study skills. Parents should also take care that when helping their students with projects, assignments, etc. that they encourage their students to do their own work and resist the temptation to do it for the student.
Part of learning is making mistakes—it is important to allow your children to make them too!
Appropriate consequences (academic penalties, etc.) will apply to acts of plagiarism, cheating, collusion, or other acts through which a student unfairly misrepresents his/her effort or achievement.
“Plagiarism” occurs when a student knowingly represents any idea or work of another person in any academic assignment, test, or examination as his or her own.
“Cheating” occurs when a student obtains an unfair advantage over other students in the context of reparation or performance of any academic assignment, test, or examination.
“Collusion” occurs when a student knowingly allows his or her work to be submitted by another student.
At CIS, we endeavor to make our school a home away from home for our children.
We actively encourage all students – from the little KG children to our Grade 12 students – to interact with each other through various school programs.
Helping others is contagious and at CIS, we teach our students how to be positive members of the community. One of the ways that we encourage this is through our Bucket Filler program. The concept behind the program is that everyone has an invisible bucket and when our buckets are full, we feel good! By doing and saying kind things to others, we fill their buckets, and in return ours are filled, too.
HOUSE LEAGUE
Each child is assigned a house and this house will stay with them throughout their time at CIS. The house is an integrated mix of all students from KG1 through to Grade 12, with all students working together in friendly competition with the other houses. Students can earn points for their house by doing good deeds, being helpful, following directions, or being a good friend.
Students can earn points for their house for good behavior such as good attendance or following directions. House points are updated weekly.
